About product
You can expect the same build quality in the MMX 300 that Beyerdynamic demonstrates across its entire headphone lineup. If you’re familiar with models like the DT 770, the MMX 300 features similar materials, such as aluminum yokes and velour ear cushions. Some users dislike Beyerdynamic’s tight clamping fit, which is present here as well, though I personally find this design comfortable, so that’s a positive for me.
What’s not as positive is the non-detachable boom microphone arm — it’s not very flexible, and that can become distracting. Another distracting element is the thick, long cable, which feels cumbersome when plugged into a controller.
Sound-wise, the MMX 300 Pro is tuned more for gaming than for music, and some of Beyerdynamic’s tuning choices have led to a few trade-offs here. There’s a noticeable sub-bass roll-off, while the high-treble range can sound sharper than expected. Listeners used to consumer-friendly tuning may need some time to adapt. That’s likely why review panels show mixed or lower scores — it simply isn’t tuned for what those users expect.
